Therapy

I can do in person sessions in Flagstaff, AZ and Telehealth therapy sessions both in Arizona and Utah.

I have worked extensively with adolescents, young adults, and their families. I have helped parents navigate the many challenges that emerging young adults can present. I provide an option of walk and talk therapy as I find this helps to increase vulnerability in those that have a harder time with it. I am open to looking at creative options other than just sitting in an office and talking. I am a direct communicator and an excellent listener and will help facilitate clients getting to the root of their issue.

I was adopted and enjoy any opportunity to work with adopted young people. I have trained with some of the leading experts in adoption and attachment. I believe in treating the “core” issue instead of only focusing on behaviors and believe in establishing strong relationships with my clients as an effective means of facilitating the therapeutic process. I believe that the key to effective therapy is all about the connection. I believe therapy is not about techniques and the latest research, but about the healing connection between people.

I also believe in individualized treatment. I believe that you have to meet every client where they are at and that you must adjust your style depending on what each client needs. You need to have a lot of tools in your toolbox because each client brings a set of new challenges and issues. It is important to be able to find a way in and establish a relationship with clients. Oftentimes this means thinking outside the box and being creative. I challenge the clients to gain insight into their own issues and I believe that the process by which they resolve their issues is more important than the issue itself.”

I have also worked with the full range of behavioral and emotional challenges including mood disorders, grief, attachment, trauma, substance abuse, learning and attention/impulsive disorders. I have assisted countless young people and clients in developing stress management strategies and improving social and life skills. I have worked extensively with families in helping to improve family communication and relations. I have also supervised many clinicians working towards licensure, as well as provided training to mental health workers. I consider myself to be very committed and dedicated to my clients and their families and strive to be as professional and authentic as I can to foster trust with my clients.

Answers To Your Frequently Asked Rate & Insurance Questions

Do You Take Insurance?
No, I do not accept insurance. If you would still like to work with your insurance, your insurance may provide some reimbursement. To help, I can provide a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

How Do I Discover What My Insurance Will Cover?
To find out what your insurance may cover, contact your insurance and ask if you have out-of-network mental health coverage. If you need to provide a “CPT code” or a “service code” you can provide the following codes:

● Individual Psychotherapy CPT code 90837

You may also want to mention the type of license that I have to ensure services with my type of credential are covered. I am a LPC. Other things you may want to ask about are:

● What your deductible is
● What your co-insurance payment will be
● How many visits you get per year
● If you need authorization for your visits
● Details on how to submit a superbill

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
Please allow 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Your appointment time is specifically reserved for you and I will need to offer someone that appointment slot if you are unable to make it. There will be a $150 session charge if your appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours notice. However, if there is an emergency or illness that prevents you from cancelling within the 24 hour window, I will work with you if I have openings and we can reschedule the appointment within the same week without charge.
